An initiative in Rotterdam by GumBuddy on the bad idea that chewing gum is, on the street. A lot of people know now that it takes 20 years for gum to disappear and this new initiative contributes to that. A global issue that needs to be addressed to start cleaning up the streets from chewing gum scattered in cities around the world.
GumBuddy has placed boards in the streets of Rotterdam for people to stick their chewing gum and start cleaning up the streets from pieces of discarded chewing gum. In addition, GumBuddy sees chewing gum as a resource worth recycling. The start-up has begun placing gum bins and ‘stick it here’ gum boards at local hotspots. The collected gum can be recycled into rubber accessories such as mobile phone cases and flip-flops.
